Whether I’m out & about with my handbag, have a clutch in toe, carrying my backpack when travelling or simply transporting around a couple of essentials, the one thing I’ll always have is powder. Call it years of fighting an oily complexion that resulted in my younger self layering up the matte foundations, it’s my just in case makeup product that you’ll rarely find me without. When it comes to picking a powder to trust with any daily oil outbreaks it needs to be something that’s finely milled, gives a hint of coverage without the cake and that works.

Over the years my powder of choice has changed, you see it isn’t one I would reach for during my daily makeup routine as instead I’m looking for something that packs a bit more of a punch in the coverage department. If my concealer has disappeared, my blush given up or my eyes are looking tired, I want a one stop ‘does it all’ powder that I know can trust. Recently this has been the bareMinerals Bare Pro Performance Wear Powder Foundation that I wear in the shade 09 Light Natural*. Although this has the word foundation in the name, you get a flawless coverage with that fab bareMinerals mineral formula that is breathable on the skin but stays in place.

Layer this up and you’ll get that fuller coverage finish however dusted over any areas that are appearing a tad oily and this will instantly brush it away leaving a satin finish behind that doesn’t look like you’ve gone in with a bucket full of powder. What I also love is the Core Coverage Brush*. Not only is this the perfect travel sized companion thanks to it’s retractable lid, it is designed with a tightly packed fibre core alongside softer outer fibres to give a soft and smooth finish. Yes you get a sponge in the bottom of the powder which I’ll reach for in emergencies but will all know a brush is better ;)

Do you carry around a powder with you in case of any makeup emergencies? Which are you favourites to use?
