The Birthday Makeup

Wednesday marked the day I clocked another year onto the age bracket and shuffled my way closer to the next big milestone. It was a very chilled affair, I snuck the day off work so spent the occasion mostly napping on the sofa, eating cake or indulging in a rather special lunch with my parents. I was going to do a big ‘birthday makeup’ video but instead (thanks to my incredible skills of snoozing on the sofa) I thought I’d talk you through the products I reached for on my special day instead!

In a bold move I reached for a foundation I’d never previously used, the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation in the shade 02 Beige Rose. After hearing the beauty world rave over these new cushion offerings, I figured now was as good a time as any to give it a whirl. Fun fact, this was actually the first time I’ve worn foundation since coming back from holiday! Many thanks to my tanned complexion and Origins VitaZing Moisturiser for that one ;) The Lance Cushion Foundation is lightweight in application yet delivers up a good dose of coverage. The cushion allows you to pick & choose how much you apply enabling you to easily building up areas that need more coverage or instead going for a lighter application in others. Shade wise the match is pretty spot on and I love the finish it gives to my skin.

For the rest of my face and eyes it was all about palettes. Firstly the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light for all my powdering needs. These little things are expensive but I’ve got so much use out of the 2015 gold holiday palette I knew I had to pick this up. Then it was the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette which I used to add a bit more of a pop to my blusher and get my highlight on fleet (obvi!). For eyes it was a mixture of my new Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Custom Palette & the Tom Ford Eye Colour Quad in Honeymoon. A smokey eye with a hint of purple was the perfect daytime look which had that  smidge glam, well, it was my birthday ;)

The final and most difficult step, the liquid lipstick. Naturally this was the biggest decision on the day for me, with such a love affair for these matte lipstick offerings and with a collection that continues to burst at the seams, it was a tricky decision picking the one that was birthday worthy. In the end I opted for the Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in the shade Queen B. Not only did it allow me to channel my inner Beyonce, it gives a soft matte mauve finish that is simply my favourite!
