Humidity Lasting Makeup

That glorious sunshine is a beautiful thing, right? Allowing you to take blissful naps out in the park, cycle along a glittering river or sharing a BBQ with friends, we all countdown until that temperature dial rises so we can bask in the heat and vitamin D. Although summertime gives us long nights and chances to frolic with friends in roof top bars, it can be a different story when you are a commuter. Instead summertime means sweaty tube rides, hot sleepless nights and stuffy office spaces. Add into the mix a face full of makeup and you might as well just call it a day and spend the working week in a paddling pool!

But how do you get your makeup through 12 hours and an overpacked train? Luckily, it’s not impossible. Over the past few weeks I’ve found a handful of products that look just as fresh in the evening as they did when I first applied them. All you need are some powders you can trust, a moisturising makeup fixer and some cream colour options and you’re set. My base of choice has been the Chanel Les Beiges Foundation as it covers yet remains lightweight throughout the day. To set it in place I go in with the Rodial Banana Powder* and the Laura Mercier Translucent Pressed Setting Powder. Both are finely milled ensuring your natural glow isn’t lost yet you can trust your foundation will stick around.

For colour I stick with cream textures. The L’Oreal Sculpt Contour Palette for shape and definition paired with the Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé for a hint of colour on the apples of my cheeks. For eyes again it’s all about the creams with the Charlotte Tilbury Eye to Mesmerise Cream Shadows offering a fab range of shades that stay put. To help with longevity I go in with the Laura Mercier Eye Basics in the shade Peach as it provides a matte base that locks in those shadows. Finally, it’s time to set everything with a spray. You know my current fave is the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist* as it refreshes, keeps makes in place whilst keeping those moisture levels filled up. The finished look is something that can combat the heat and keep you looking normal when you are still having an internal meltdown!
