Concealer Battle: bareMinerals v Urban Decay

Ever since the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer entered my life, nothing has compared. It’s been over a year of dedicated and uninterrupted love that hasn’t yet been challenged. If you’ve seen my Concealer Battle Video you’ll know it was a rocky start in the beginning. Initially the more creamy formula wasn’t something I was used to and first impressions kept the cult NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer in the top spot. Needless to say after a bit more testing I realised my initial mistakes and saw the Urban Decay light. Now there is something else trying to steal the top spot and word on the street is that it’s the cheaper and more hydrating sister…lets see about that!

The bareMinerals bareSkin Serum Concealer is marketed in a pretty similar way, a two in one product that delivers full coverage and a flawless finish. Whilst being able to cover blemishes, dark circles and discolouration, it does so by providing lighting reflecting particles to brightening and boost. That lightweight texture adds to the hydrating feel but is it actually better? First of all I have different colours in each product, Urban Decay matches my face more whereas the bareMinerals shade lends itself more to an undereye brightener. This does make it a tad tricky to compare but I’ve given it my best shot!

In terms of formula they are both creamy, moisturising, don’t settle in fine lines or wear throughout the day. I do however find to the Urban Decay offering to be a tad more heavy duty. It covers in one layer that can be blended with your finger, brush or beauty blender. I know the bareMinerals is more affordable but I just haven’t found it to capture my concealer needs like the Urban Decay one does. At the moment I’m keeping the bareMinerals as a backup for when my eyes need more power to hide the lack of sleep but the Urban Decay concealer is still the winner in my eyes.

I wear the shade Light in bareMinerals and Light Neutral in Urban Decay. I also have my eye on a couple of new concealers from Too Faced and Kat Von D that I am eager to try next!
