Post-Holiday Skincare

post holiday skincare

So that’s it! The holiday blues are encroaching, the alarm for work is already set and I can feel that slight summers glow instantly disappearing from my body thanks to the London gloom. I know – aren’t I just a ray of sunshine today! You’d think that with the amount of palm tree pics I was spamming over on my Instagram (@agirlandabeautyblog) I had topped up enough Vitamin D to last me the year but alas those gorgeous Cali sights are just too much to say goodbye to!

I’ve got one last day before heading back into the office (bleugh) so will be spending it pampering, preening and pretending that my view outside the window was of a rich blue ocean. Post red eye flight and a day+ worth of travelling my skin is need of some serious TLC. Whilst away I was pretty good with the old skincare routine but after 24 hours without sleep, it isn’t looking it’s best! Today I will be calling upon a bevy of skincare beauties to right the wrongs and kick things back into shape.

Resurfacing is my main desire so the Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay* is a good place to start. Giving you a deep clean whilst refining your skins texture, this masks over those prominent pores whilst returning my skin back to it’s former smooth self. If I’ve got bit more time on my hands aka the jet leg isn’t crippling me I get a bit more fancy. Starting with the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask this encourages imperfections to be drawn out of the skin whilst repairing any damaged areas. I follow this up with the May Lindstrom Honey Mud Cleansing Silk that I got in a Cult Beauty gift bag. Although I’m not 100% sold on this, I do love it’s rich feeling that once applied dries to leave your everything feeling soft and luminous.

Finally it’s all about the hydration so I apply a thin layer of the Kiehls Cilantro & Orange Extract Defending Masque* that not only rebalances those moisture levels, it protects my skin from daily pollutants which is fab when I know I’ll be back on the daily commute come tomorrow morning.
