Poolside Skincare Routine

poolside skincare

Although I’m not much of a sun bunny (I don’t do well when I’m hot & bothered) I do love lying out by the pool. There is something relaxing about the distant sound of kids splashing and people chattering whilst the rich sunshine is beating down on you well the big umbrella that is protecting you! When I’m out by the pool I like to take along a couple of skincare essentials, nothing too high maintenance but just a couple of products to ensure my skin is kept hydrated, especially when jumping in and out of the pool. I also make sure I’ve got a kit of SPF to keep coverage high so nothing gets burnt.

SPF – the two SPF heroes come from the Kiehls Ultra Light Daily UV Defence SPF 50 PA+++ and  Bioderma Photerpes SPF 50 Lip Stick. Although I don’t lay out in the sun I do like to splash around in the pool, although this keeps my limbs cool the sun reflects off the water and beams straight into my face. To prevent anything from getting too pink I slathered on a strong face SPF and lip SPF to protect me from the rays. Both are moisturising, don’t irritate my skin and do a fantastic job of ensuring I don’t become a human lobster.

Hydration – when I’ve jumped back onto the sun lounger post swim it’s all about the hydration game. Being in the water and then out in the heat can leave everything feeling dry and tight, not ideal. To prevent this I go in with my Caudalie Beauty Elixir which is also super refreshing and also a mini Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream. This day cream is packed full of hydration and the smallest amount goes a long way. I also love to add this to my knees and feet, anywhere that can also get a little dry to ensure they stay hydrated whilst out in the desert heat.
