When Clinique first launched their Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick*, I’ve gotta admit I was sceptical. Had they gone too far with the popularity of the chubby stick? Had they really thought about the product inside as opposed to simply adding to the hype? In my mind I conjured a thick, oddly coloured & hard to blend product that would be so far removed from the everyday textures & consistencies that I reached for, I simply wouldn’t be able to get on board. Well let’s just say I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover…
First lets state the obvious – yes the product comes in a stick format. There is no way from avoiding that simple fact, the product is solid and has to be drawn onto your face. I dabbled in application via the back of my hand but quite frankly used up so much product it simply wasn’t worth while. What I would suggest however is warming up the stick on the back of your hand before going in directly on your face.
For application I focused the product where I needed it most. Two stripes across my cheeks, one down the centre of my nose and a little bit across my forehead and chin. To get on in and blend everything together I stuck with my trusty Kevyn Aucoin Foundation brush which actually did a fantastic job of blending out each stripe so it looked seamless on my skin.
Coverage was medium, buildable and the colour match of Nourmous Neutral was perfect for my complexion. For something I expected to sit heavy on my skin, it didn’t and the lasting power was there throughout the day. Overall I’m really impressed with the foundation and pleasantly surprised by how much I like it. I’ve been wearing it to work daily and even at the weekends opting for a lighter coverage and blending with my hands. Needless to say don’t be alarmed by the premise of a stick foundation, they work for us BB loving girls too!
