Your Seasonal Base Wardrobe

The seasonal switch up – we all know how this applies to our wardrobes, our skincare, heck even our diets, but what about your foundations? I know this may just sound like excuse to stash away a heap of foundations, tinted moisturisers and BB creams for a ‘rainy day’, but personally I find having an interchangeable seasonable base wardrobe means I’m ready for action no matter weather. Just like I store away jumpers in the summer and dresses come winter, I switch up my foundations to suit the new season whilst adjusting to the change in temperature dial. See it makes sense ;)

Winter – during the coldest seasons of the year I look towards a base that will give my skin hydration, luminosity and radiance throughout the day whilst covering any imperfections or redness (aka red cheeks from the cold). To match this large list of demands only one base has been up to the job and thats the L’Oreal True Match Foundation in the new formula. It blends seamlessly onto my skin, at times can sit on the surface if I’ve gone in too heavy handed, however it leaves my complexion looking far from it’s sallow winters self.

Spring – whilst the great outdoors starts heating up my skin begins to verge back towards that oily side. As opposed to requiring something that just brings a youthful vitality to my skin I need a tad more hydration whilst easing off that coverage dial. The Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Youth Boosting Perfect Foundation is that perfect in-between base that brings lightweight coverage that lasts even though an oily skin day.

Summer – now when it comes to those real hot months foundation is the last thing on your mind, especially if you’ve got a trip away planned in the diary. During this season it’s all about fuss free makeup that just works whilst keeping application short and sweet. At this point throughout the year I always jump back to my ultimate fave, the Dior Nude BB Cream. This keeps my skin looking fresh, provides that hint of coverage to ensure everything stays evens yet allows my complexion to glow through.

Autumn – okay okay I’m kinda cheating here by having two products in the line up for autumn but it counts as one when they are basically the same thing…right?! You see for that transitional season from warm to cold I find mixing this two bases together creates my perfect coverage. You’ve got the Jouer Cosmetics Luminizing Moisture Tint for those warmer days however if you’ve craving a more matte finish simply mix in a dollop of the Matte Moisture Tint. Simples right! Chop and change the combination on a daily basis to give yourself exactly the coverage you need.

Do you have a few foundations in your collection to use as a seasonal base wardrobe? What are your favourites for each season?
