Without noticing, the shift in weather has caused me to naturally switch up the bases I reach for on a day to day basis. Shunning the once loved BB & CC Creams, the lack of glow in my complexion and harsher winds outside means that once again, I am starting to crave a tad more coverage. I must caveat that statement by saying I’ve not jumped into the full coverage band, my new dryer skin can no longer contest with those bases. Instead, I’ve been reaching for those foundations that bring a tad more coverage whilst remaining light to the touch.
You may spot a few familiar faces, one especially that remained in my daily makeup rotation throughout the warmer months. You’ve guessed it, I still can’t get enough of the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. It’s been in my favourites, I’ve spoken about it many a time here on the blog and yes, it’s still one of my most reached for bases. Something about it’s satin finish illuminates my complexion whilst ensuring areas of imperfections don’t shine through. Also, it lasts throughout a whole day at work including commute times. Major brownie points for that.
The second two are rediscoveries, lost across those summer months but re-found now the seasons are shifting. May I reintroduce you to the Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser* and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. For those days when I need a bit of colour thanks to the sun refusing to come out to play, I opt for the Clinique Moisture Surge. The shade is a little bit darker compared to my natural colour however thanks to the moisturising and lightweight formula, sheered out this keeps the glow but without those tell tale dark foundation lines.
Finally an oldie but a goodie, Vitalumiere. I’ve seen a far few bloggers fall back in love with this old school foundation during the seasonal switch-up. If you’ve ever wondered what constitutes holy grail status, this does. It’s just one of those foundations that just makes you shout yes. Yes to the coverage, the formula, the shade, the lasting power, heck even the packaging! I may not find myself reaching for this on the daily like I used to, but it will forever remain in my collection because of just how darn good it is. Vitalumiere – my beauty filled heart will always love you.
