As you may have seen me mention, over the past weekend I hot footed my way over to Manchester for the night all thanks to Holland & Barrett. The aim of the game? To enjoy a relaxing weekend in the Midland Hotel whilst being treated to a three course meal curated from goodies you can pick up in store directly from Holland & Barrett. You see, it’s not all magnesium tablets and protein powder there! A variety of food and drink produce also stacks the halls meaning if you are looking to cook up a healthy meal or need to buy specific ingredients due to an allergy or intolerance, H&B have you covered.
Now, when I first get told I was in for a menu designed around Holland & Barrett ingredients I instantly envisaged myself pushing around ingredients pretending to find the meal delicious all whilst trying to Google the nearest takeaway around the corner. Lucky for me and my rumbling tummy we were in for quite the treat! Starting off with Honey Baked Feta there was almond nut butter underneath a bed of baked feta cooked in cider vinegar and coconut oil. Bursting with flavour I literally had to stop myself from clicking the plate clean.
For mains I went for duck which was accompanied with quinoa, barley grass, butternut and pumpkin seeds. Oh buddy was this filling, super delicious but without that dreaded super full bloated feeling. Finally, came desert – a green tea and ginger cheesecake featuring crystallised coconut nectar and crystallised ginger. Because I’ve always seen Holland & Barrett as a supplement store I’ve never thought about cooking a meal using their wide range of ingredients. Finally my eyes have been opened to all the possibilities, and after that delicious meal, I know where I’m going next with my shopping list!
I’ve also got a few beauty goodies from the brand to try out. The Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo has already been put to work on my tresses and one use managed to leave them super soft and smooth. There is also a packet to try out oil pulling for naturally whiter teeth – make take a big of encouragement before I give this one a whirl ;)
