Afternoon Tea at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai

afternoon tea

To celebrate an impending birthday, the week before said day rolled into town mum and I tore ourselves away from the relaxing pool side loungers, donned our best glad rags and headed off in a taxi over to the Palm Jumeirah to experience afternoon tea at the Waldorf Astoria. One of the top five afternoon teas in Dubai, not only were we expecting some pretty fine cakes, it was also an opportunity to explore an area of Dubai we hadn’t visited before. Within the hotel you are seated at Peacock Ally with a view outside across the Palm. Upon opening the menu you are presented with two options, a London tea or a Parisian tea. We opted for one of each just for the extra cake choices obvs and we were not left disappointed.

Starting with a glass of prosecco we watched the world go by whilst our perfectly formed and cute sandwiches were being whipped up. Part of the London plate were cucumber, roasted beef & smoked salmon with the Parisian tea serving up crab, prosciutto & goats cheese. Next came the scones, oh buddy the scones! With lashings of clotted cream, jam, lemon curd and marmalade, there were enough scones to feed a small army! After some breathing time and air it was finally time for the cakes.

Individually made sweet treats bursting full of flavour, fruits and chocolate. From caramel eclairs to fruit tarts and macroons, it took some dedicated time and effort to get through this bunch not that I was complaining! In-between bites the tea trolly was also brought over where we could discover different flavours and options before selecting our perfect drink. Overall this was one of the best afternoon teas I’ve experienced, super relaxed in a luxe environment that made the occasion that more special. I even got some balloons and a sing song for my birthday! If you are heading to Dubai and want to experience an afternoon tea – I highly recommend the Waldorf Astoria!
