beauty edit: tired eye fighters

For a person who naturally fusses over the dark circles under their eyes, team this genetic gift with a lack of sleep and I might as well change my name legally to the girl whose face has been taken over by bags. Boy are they in a world of their own right now! To most, I’m sure they remain undetectable, but for myself all I see reflected back in the mirror is puffy skin crying out for some duvet time. I’ve spoken about my under eye concealer heroes in the past but today I’m going to run down my SOS kit when it comes to caring for tired eyes.

Prep – this is where it begins. With a good cooling gel and tinted eye cream half the battle is completed before you’ve even thought about applying makeup. One item I’ll never be without when it comes to my eyes is the Clinique All About Eyes De-Puffing Eye Massage. A cooling rollerball that aids in counteracting puffy areas, it’s a saviour for tired and stressed out peepers. To balance out the blue tones a tinted eye cream is your secret weapon. Long standing favourite comes from Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream but new on the scene is First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy with it’s nifty cooling applicator as part of the packaging.

Next – conceal, conceal, conceal. At times like these you will be tempted to throw on all the concealer in your collection but don’t, it will just cling to any dry skin and end up enhancing the area you were trying so hard to hide. Instead, give these two items a whirl. First the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector that I use under foundation/concealer. Inside this pot you get high coverage consistency that brightens and evens skin tone, I apply it with my fingers to warm up the product so it blends seamlessly. For the past month I’ve been reach for the Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener a lighter version of it’s corrector sister, this give the same great covering properties without feeling like cement on the skin. All these items combined give the perfect remedy to combat 5 hours of sleep – one of these days I’ll be able to fix my bags with actual sleep ;)
