Longlasting Makeup Tips

longlasting makeup tips

Last weekend marked my Aunts 70th birthday. A celebration that occurred in the deepest, darkest northern part of the UK (I jest it was in Manchester) however it did involve a 6am alarm call. These are one of those rare occasions when you really need your makeup to last, I’m not talking about a day at work or keeping yourself spruced up for impromptu after work drinks, I mean those days when you need your makeup to look pristine from 7am in the morning through to 10pm at night. On this rare occasion I delved through my makeup collection on the hunt for those items that I could trust to stay in place, from primers to shadows I had all my bases covered to aid in a fresh faced appearance when I arrived to greet my family.

Whenever thoughts move to long lasting makeup my initial pull is always towards primer, what else is going to lock everything in place whilst the hours tick by? For this I used the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer* as not only does it keep shine at bay, you guessed it, it also makes my foundation last longer. Primer was also used for my lids and my lashes. The NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is a no brainer, for oily lid gals or those who simply want their shadow to stay in place, this is a must. I also branched out into lash primer oer with the Estee Lauder Little Black Primer*. Still not 100% sure whether this is a gimmick or actually works, it promises to hold curl and volume throughout the day which sounds good to me!

My current go to long lasting foundation is the L’Oreal True Match Foundation. Surpassing all my luxury favourites, this is what I gravitate towards when I need a base to stay in place. Giving a flawless finish whilst still looking natural, I can’t sing it’s praises enough. Although not technically tailored for those long lasting makeup sessions, the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Eye is what I grab on those days when my bags are drooping to the floor or when I need my concealer to stay. With fab longevity you can trust this to stick around when the going gets tough. For powder it’s got to be Tarte. With their Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blushers my fav being Tipsy and their Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer, you can trust your blush and bronzer to stay put.

What are you go to products when you need your makeup to last? Any tips or tricks in your makeup book? Don’t forget a spritz of a fab setting spray like the L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray.
