Well hasn’t it been a long time since ‘A Day Out To’ post was published on this dear blog! I promise I haven’t gone back into a hole and stopped going out at the weekends ok, I have but sometimes life just manages to get in the way! Luckily about two months back I made the most of a free Saturday and ventured over to North West London. Portobello Market to be exact, the worlds largest antiques market with a whole host of vendors and stalls selling all types of collectible goods and vintage finds.
Nestled in by Notting Hill you can easily bypass the stalls and vibrant atmosphere if you don’t know where it lives. Running the length of Notting Hill from South to North (almost in parallel with Ladbroke Grove) look out for the coloured houses and stands bursting with clothing and home wear goods – then you’ll know you’re in the right area! Alongside the the stalls you will find an abundance of crepe vans that fills the street with a sweet fragrance, I may have spent the day debating how many crepes I could get through whilst walking through the market ;)
Another addition to the busting streets is the Electric Cinema. Providing a haven away from the hordes of people whilst offering a unique cinema experience, catch the latest blockbuster in a relaxing sofa or even bed! Check in advance for viewings as seats sell out but if you have a bit of time during your day make sure to checkout this unique place. After, stop by one of the popular restaurants or bars to see the night in with a cocktail whilst checking out all the treasures you found during the day. With so much to do and see at Portobello Market it’s a great day out and is the perfect London hideaway to explore.
