Surviving a Bad Skin Day

surviving a bad skin day

Everyone suffers from bad skin days – whether it’s a sudden breakout that pops up out of nowhere or a few days of irritation that won’t seem to go away, it’s hard for skin to be perfect all the time. Knowing which products to reach for during these problem times can be tricky. You don’t want to aggravate the situation and makes things worse but it’s hard to sit back and do nothing when your face is misbehaving. In these cases I reach for the tried and tested, I know they won’t cause the problem to progress and I can trust they will work with me to calm down any areas of inflammation whilst returning my skin to a happier state.

The Mask – As soon as I spy a little eruption ready and waiting to make it’s appearance I go in with a heavy duty mask to scare it away. Back in the day I would reach for the Origins Clear Improvements Clay Mask but now it’s all about the Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask. This doesn’t dehydrate my skin or strip it, instead it reduces redness, brings any imperfections to the surface all whilst keeping my skin clean and clear.

The Hydrator – When it comes to misbehaving skin it’s easy to think that you need to dry out the area hello old toothpaste ‘trick’ but instead it’s all about hydration. To keep my moisture levels in check I spritz the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist* throughout the day to ensure the area stays hydrated and doesn’t go dry or crispy #ew.

The Fixer – For an intensive on the spot treatment my fail safe will forever be the Origins Super Spot Remover. Multiple bottles of this skincare saviour have been purchased and used up, nothing beats this targeted product applied directly to the problem area with a cotton wool bud. Spots clear up quicker and redness is instantly reduced.

The Complexion Enhancer – On days when your skin isn’t look it’s best naturally you want to head towards the makeup and pile everything onto your face. Although this might seem like the best idea, it actually enhances the problem and makes things 10x worse. Instead opt for a tinted moisturiser as it gives skin a bit of glow faking that healthy look which makes me want to bypass all the slap. For this is has to be the Origins VitaZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser with Mangosteen as it always leaves my skin looks radiant and ready for the day.

The Hider – If you do need a touch more coverage, stick with the hydrating options that mask imperfections without highlighting their existence. The Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer is perfect for this as it’s the most hydrating concealer I’ve used whilst being fantastic coverage. A little goes a long way and helps to faux that flawless look.
