Although my daily makeup routine has become more streamlined in recent months, weekends is where I really strip things back and let my skin breathe. If I’ve got a night out in the books then the slap will be on in full force, apart from that you will usually spot me more bare faced and natural. To achieve this I use some staple and multi use products that I can pop on in the space of 10 minutes. Brunch is much more important at the weekends than spending time on my makeup ;)
The base of choice has to be my BB best friend, Dr Jart+ Water Fuse BB Cream. Creating the most natural and effortless base that I apply with my fingers, it evens out my skin tone whilst masking any obvious imperfections. Opting for ease over my usual two concealer approach I go to my Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer which I dot on the back of my hand and blend under my eyes, around my nose and on any red areas with the RT Setting Brush. Lightweight yet super pigmented this masks the areas you want to hide whist leaving your skin looking like skin.
Time for a palette that has your bronzer, blush and highlight all in one place – the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette* does just that and has quickly become a weekend staple. The bronze shade works as an allover bronzer to give colour to the face or can be built up in the hollows of your cheeks to work as a contour. Although the blush looks slightly scary in the pan, blended out it gives a flush to the cheeks that flatters the complexion. Completed with the highlight shade it’s icey pink tone has a hint of gold to lift the high points of the face. For shadow, it’s a quick and easy to use pencil from Nudestix. Their Twilight Magnetic Eye Colour Pencil* give a soft wash of colour that lasts throughout the day.
Time for lashes I apply a few coats of mascara to bring out that flutter and give some definition to my eyes. Mascara of choice has to be the Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara thanks to it’s lengthening and volumising qualities. This even has me shunning my much loved Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara! For lips I opt for a balm to help crank up the moisture whilst caring for those pesky dry patches throughout the day. I apply a generous amount of the PapayaGold Paw Paw Moisturising Balm and pop this straight into my handbag for touchups when I’m on the go.
What are your go to weekend makeup items? Do you opt for a more natural look during these two days?
