The Edit: Morning Skincare Routine

morning skincare routine

It’s been a while since my last skincare routine featured on this dear spot hidden in the Interwebz, way back when in 2014 I know, slaps wrist was the last time I riffled through my daily essentials and shared those keepers that help keep my skin clear and blemish free. It’s time for a long overdue update and you know these products are winners when I find myself reaching for less makeup each morning – that’s right I actually like my skin makeup free!

Early starts, lack of sleep and dozy mornings means my Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser for Combination or Oily Skin makes another appearance. I’ve lost count of how many bottles I’ve gone through (think I’m on my 6th now!) but it’s the perfect product to wipe away the grime and sleep without having to get your face and hair wet at 6am in the morning. Yes, nothing compares to getting water on your face and having a proper cleanse however over the years this has never done me wrong and will forever stay a staple.

One of the biggest differences to my routine in the past two years comes in the form of chemical exfoliators, that key step to help balance out my complexion whilst keeping my skin clear of blemishes. No surprises again, after cleansing I go in with a single pump of the Pixi Glow Tonic that I swipe across my face. Halfway through my second bottle this is a HG item that keeps my skin in tip top shape. New onto the scene is the Pixi Glow Mist that I use following the Glow Tonic to boost hydration and moisture levels in my skin. This has only been part of my skincare lineup recently however already I can tell it’s one fab mist.

Finally it’s all about hydration, hydration, hydration. Starting with the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + this again has been a staple for the past few years to help keep blemishes at bay. It’s lightweight formula sinks into the skin and I focus application to the center of my face. Once that is no longer tacky I apply a fairly liberal amount of the Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream. This is the best morning moisturiser I’ve found to banish the dry patches, leaving my skin feeling supple and smooth I can already spy a that a repurchase is going to be made!

What are your skincare staples? Any recommendations on eye cream that I always manage to leave out? ;)
