New In at the Drugstore

Inspired by my recent drugstore favourites post I took a trip down to Boots so I could peruse the aisles and snap up anything new on the shelves. I wasn’t intending to pickup quite so many items but hey, that’s just what happens in Boots right ;) From palettes to blush and even a cheeky contour kit, here is a rundown of what new delights await you in your local store.

I’m the first to admit that I’m a foundation snob, always struggling to rifle through the stands and suss out which shade I am. On those rare occasions when the store is quiet and the displays are tidy I can really delve in and swatch to my hearts content. On this trip I picked up the new Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation in 10 Ivory as its promises flawless coverage whilst remaining undetectable on your skin. The drop dispenser is weird but the light formula sinks into my skin to mask imperfections whilst leaving a natural base behind.

To banish dark circles I went in with the Maybelline Dream Touch Lumi Concealer in 02 Nude. This takes a while to soften up the brush but once you have you can apply a luminous layer of product that lifts away the blue tones under your eyes. Paired with the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 10 (are you noticing a theme here?) this is a fab NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer dupe that I use to cover-up blemishes.

For cheeks I got drawn in by the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit. Comprising of three shades, one to highlight, one to contour & one to bronze, this pigmented trio enables you to achieve that illusive Kim K look. Yes there is product fallout but for the price, it’s an affordable way to get those supermodel cheekbones. Whilst browsing the brands my eyes instantly fell on this Springtime blush from Bourjois. The Little Round Pot Blusher in 34 Rose D’Or is a radiance boosting pink offering that gives the most gorgeous flush to your cheeks. You only need a tiny amount of this pigmented product blended out across the apples of your cheeks for a flattering hint of colour.

Eyes comes from another palette but this time I ventured over to Collection and picked up their Eyes Uncovered Palette in 1 Nude. Their take on the popular nude palettes this offers six shades that makes creating a smokey eye super easy. Again there is quite a bit of fallout from the pan but the colour payoff is pretty decent considering the budget price. For any areas that remained a tad shiny across my complexion a light dusting of the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder in Vanille locked everything in place. Completed with a big hit of colour thanks to the Maybelline Coloursensational Elixir Lip in 400 Alluring Coral I felt ready for the sunshine!
