Ah V Day – that date in the calender that can either pass you by unnoticed or cause you to approach the day in a flurry of plans, bookings and dress options. I opt for the former. A nice chilled and relaxed day that comes and goes as if it were any other day of the week. Yes there may be sweet chocolate indulgences but lets be honest, like that doesn’t happen throughout the rest of the year ;) For 2015 I’ve got a girls night booked in the calender so I thought I would pop together a Valentine’s inspired look that will work whether you’re heading out for a romantic dinner or spending the evening with friends. A darker shade on the lip and subtle liner keeps things smokey and soft without you having to worry about lipstick appearing on your teeth half way through the night.

Kicking things off with a long lasting base that I can trust it’s got to be the Illamasqua Skinbase Foundation in the shade No 7. Satin finish, medium coverage all without SPF so no photo flash back fear, this creates a flawless complexion that lasts. Thanks to the Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour Brush cheekbones were here to stay and to continue the contoured look I added the Smashbox Halo Long Wear Blush in Warm Glow* to the apples of my cheeks to give a luminous peachy finish.

For sultry eyes it has to be the Charlotte Tilbury Colour-Coded Eyeshadow Palette in Dolce Vita and Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen. I kept things pretty neutral as no one wants to be touching up their winged lined in the bathroom thanks to half of it smudging away without you realising, so instead I lined the lash line to give the effect of fuller lashes without all the maintenance. Finally lipstick and I opted for the Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colour in Carolina*. A vampy red wine shade this gives bolder vibes without needing a lipliner and constant maintenance. Fuss free yet with full effect – makeup perfection!
