Whenever I’ve had a night with a lot of makeup on my face, I can instantly feel it the next day. Tightness, dry eyes and lacklustre complexion – all tell tale signs that I was excessive with the slap the night before. Although day to day I prefer to opt for a more natural look, those rare nights that I do venture outside the house I like to spend my time putting on rather a lot of makeup. It’s part of the going out process to me and I enjoy mixing shadows, attempting liner and contouring those cheeks bones before I hit the town.
Although the process is fun, when I awake the next day my skin is not a happy bunny, especially my eyes. Dryness in the corners, excessive panda eye from where my eyeliner will not budge, all in all it’s not a good look and can be really sore. In the situations like these I’ve got a stash of tried and tested products that I whip out too calm down my sensitive skill. Night out full of makeup your say? No one will ever know ;) The first step is always moisture, moisture, moisture. Not just in terms of masks but also drinking plenty of water throughout the day to help flush out any dehydration or pesky hangover .
For my skin it’s all about the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask and Antipodes Hosanna H2O Intensive Plumping Serum*. Both of these counteract the areas of dehydration in order to balance out my skin. Before diving in with the moisture masks I like to go in with a quick exfoliator after I’ve removed my makeup to buff away any remains. For this I use opt for my much loved Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator which is quick and easy to use yet leaves my skin feeling radiant and youthful.
Following on from masks it’s all about the eyes. To prevent crusty corners TMI? I slather on my pot of Clinique All About Eyes. The best thing for dry and tired eyes this ensures I awake to happy lids that don’t regret all the liner from the night before. Once all that has been done I make myself a green tea, my personal favourite being Mao Feng Green Tea from Tea Pigs, and I sit back and relax with a good book or TV show. Throughout the day I spritz on the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and it’s as if the night before never happened ;)
