Best of Week: Hair, Nails, ETC

2014 hair nails etc favourites

It’s time to round up the last remaining beauty favourites from 2014 and delve into the oh so glamorous side category of: hair, nails, etc. Typically the after thought thanks to it’s less than attractive stance compared to makeup and skincare, the products may not look as pretty however I would be lost without them. Call them those unsung heroes, just because they don’t sit pride of place on your counter doesn’t mean they aren’t loved in equal measures.

Wet Brush – fine hair that easily knots is a nightmare come morning. A brush that can be run through wet or dry tresses becomes imperative to help prevent unmanageable hair getting out of hand. Conscious of anything that may cause breakages, this wet brush glides through my locks without snagging to remove any tangles with ease.

Fudge Urban Ice Raspberry & Vanilla Hairspray – in the past I’ve been a hairspray floozy, I know how could I? Unbothered by brand or formula there was no love lost here, that was until I stumbled across a hairspray that simply smells scrumptious. Sounds strange for a can containing flammable goods however the mixture of raspberry and vanilla instantly removes that tell tale hairspray scent.

MOXI Angled Flat Top Contour Brush* – makeup brushes, a core in any beauty lovers collection and one of those items that can transform the application process. From 2014 the standout brand in my eyes comes from budget friendly MOXI. A daily staple formed from the Flat Top Contour Brush aka my concealers best friend to leave my base looking flawless. A close second would be the NARS Yachiyo Brush, if only it didn’t shed so darn much.

Elizabeth & James Nirvana White Perfume – I’m sorry, this is only available in the States. I’m also sorry because I’m going to witter on about how incredible it smells and how you simply must pick one up. Sozington. Let’s just leave it as this, if you find yourself in arms distance of one pick one up and hot foot your way to the checkout. You won’t regret it.

Essie Fashion Playground – oh look I still love minty green nail polishes – shocker ;) I have a feeling this was part of the Spring 2014 collection but you may be able to pick one up online – eyes on you Look Fantastic. It needs a good three coats to give an opaque and even finish however a bit of time and effort leaves a gorgeous pastel green colour behind.

L’Oreal Paris Studio Line #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray – ever wanted to pickup a more price friendly version of the infamous Oribe Dry Texturising Spray? Look no further. Now well into my second can this is perfect at achieving everyday texture and hold to your tresses. A fine mist is all you need to amp up the roots and keep volume locked in throughout the day.

Gliss Liquid Silk Gloss Hair Express-Repair Conditioner – since going to the blonde side I’ve notice the tips of my hair have been getting increasingly dry and frizzy. Straightening just made my locks thick and oil didn’t sit well on my fine hair type – instead I needed something like silk (see what I did there!) For under £4 this brings back the soft and the sleek whilst helping to prevent that midday frizz attack.

KeraStraight Protein Mask* – for those days when you hair is overdue a wash or when it’s been misbehaving all week, a good mask helps to kick it back into action. Although a December discovery I’m already hooked on this protein find. A single use transforms dry and damaged hair as if it had undergone an expensive conditioning treatment. Needless to say all my other masks have been banished to the back of the shelf.
