Although I’m all about the makeup when it comes to getting ready for a party, on the odd occasion I’ll go out all and jazz up my hair for the special event. For most, this is the norm, however I usually stick to my natural straight style thanks to my track record of ending up in a heated fight with my styler only to be the one left with the scars. Today however I’ve embraced the tools and added a cheeky curl to my tresses to bounce around whilst I attempt to own the dance floor. Simple and easy to create here is my take on foolproof curls.

Considering my hair is fine, I still prefer to add a curl to freshly washed locks as when the second day rolls into town it tends to show too many tell tale greasy signs. On damp hair before blowing drying I spritz in a heat protectant curling spray to provide care and hold. One of my favs is the KMS California Freeshape Hot Flex Spray as this helps to look after my locks whilst encouraging my curls to stick around for longer then 25 minutes. For a bit of grit I opt for a texture power as this gives the best finish without weighing my hair down. The Schwarzkopf Got2B Powerder’ful Volumising Styling Powder* is a light dust that I pop into my hand first then scrunch through the lengths and roots to give a bit more volume and lift at the roots.

For the curls themselves it’s got to be the Babyliss Pro Porcelain Conical Wand – putting the hot pink colour to one side this heats up to the variable temperate you decide and creates effortless waves that look soft and natural. Keeping things messy is key so I pick up different sections and sizes to give the style to more movement and an overall lived in finished. When I’m all done I spray in some of the Sachajuan Hair Perfume* as not only does this give an injection of shine, it add a soft fragrances that lingers throughout the day.
