The Edit: The Festive Polish

Oh glitter – you utter beaut. Your glistening flecks that shimmer in the sunlight are oh so pretty but why must you turn into the biggest pest when it comes to removal time!? Bah humbug! Although it takes me a handful of cotton pads, half a pot of nail varnish remover and all the patience in the world, it doesn’t stop me from slapping on the glitter as soon as it hits December. Over the years I’ve managed to build up quite the collection with some of these festive beauties getting used as soon as the calender strikes the first of the month. Here is a round up of my festive polish picks – it’s time to get our sparkle on ;)

Essie Does Glitter – considering that Essie are my fav nail polish brand it comes as no surprise that two of their glitters feature in this post. Starting with Beyond Cozy this is gold done to perfection. Tiny flecks of pigment that shimmer once applied it looks gorgeous on the nails without being too OTT. For the red it’s gotta be Leading Lady – a true classy shade that again retains small particles to keep the varnish looking neat and chic.

Budget Shimmers – adding that twinkle doesn’t need to break the bank, keeping the price budget still gives you a selection of shades and formulas to suit your glitter needs. For a hint of pastel pink it’s the Models Own Pink Fizz Glitter. With slightly larger pieces this glitter does pack more of a punch however the shade still looks super flattering once applied. For a topcoat that wins every time I love the Barry M Glitter Nail Paint. This is my go to pick to pop over a pastel or darker colour to give it that festive feel.

A Ruby Red – for a luxe polish that looks like Dorathy’s ruby red slippers you can’t go wrong with Deborah Lippman’s shade Ruby Red Slippers. It’s slightly darker and richer in comparison to Essie’s Leading Lady and I like to pop this on for the wow factor. Long lasting and an ease to apply it’s often the polish of choice you will find on my nails come Christmas Day.
