Getting ready for Christmas – what planning really goes into making that day special and enjoyable by everyone in the family? I’m lucky enough to have my mum prepare and cook the most incredible meal of the year so instead of thinking about turkey and cranberry sauce, my thoughts turn to presents and decorations for the house. Nothing feels more like Christmas then having the house filled with bright coloured trinkets and candles. My mum transforms the space into a winter wonderland and it feels truly magical. As we opt for a real tree (personally I wouldn’t have it any other way!) we don’t pick one out until a couple of weeks before the big day, instead it’s all about selecting the colour theme and ensuring we have enough baubles in stock. This year we are opting for a traditional red look and have already snapped up some gorgeous looking decorations ready and waiting for the tree to arrive.
The countdown to Santa is also about getting the festive wardrobe ready. Heading to Primark and stocking up on festive pudding leggings, snow covered blankets and red robin socks is as much a part of Christmas as the presents are. This year Tiger also have some great decorations that are perfect additions to add a bit of character to a room – they are also cheep as chips which is perfect if you are looking for a couple of items to add to your office space to get it in the festive spirt. For the first time I’ve also splashed out on a set of ice green snowflake bedding set from Asda. A step too far? Never ;) Alongside Christmas cards, gingerbread scented shower gel and bright red lips you can’t forget the advent calendar. I’ve got the Malteaser one this year and with a mini Rudolf for Christmas Eve the countdown is going to be delicious!
