dry shampoo

Longstanding readers of my blog know my admiration for dry shampoo. Yes, it has a tenancy to reduce my locks to a slightly dry and wiry mess, but I’d take that any day over being a grease ball. A handful of you may also be privy to the fact that for the past two years I’ve been dedicated to one can and one can only, Batiste Lace. I dread to think how many bottles I managed to get through as even when the brand discontinued the Lace style, I remained undeterred and bulk bought cans from French Pharmacy sites (no joke). Sadly however the time has come and all my loyal stockists display the heartbreaking out of stock sign. Batiste Lace is no more so it’s time to find a new BFF to save my locks come those greasy haired days.

COLAB with Ruth Crilly

Hot off the press another one of our homegrown YouTube favourites has branched out and bought to the market a bevy of beauty goodies. Ruth Crilly aka A Model Recommends has recently launched a collection of dry shampoos with COLAB. Comprising of five fragrances, each promises to refresh your tresses without leaving those tell tale white marks behind. I tried out Rio which is an uplifting fruity combination, it didn’t leave any suspicious dry shampoo marks behind however I felt that my hair didn’t feel overly clean afterwards. Maybe I’m just too used to ones that pack some serious punch ;)

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky 7-in-1 Dry Shampoo

Bought on a whim this Garnier offering claims to give no visible residue whilst absorbing any excess oils within the hair. Initial inspection showed that the can is smaller compared to the usual Batiste offerings, taking into consideration how much dry shampoo I go through on a weekly basis (sorry ozone) the cost effective price doesn’t seem so appealing on this one. It does a decent job of cleansing the hair but nothing to write home about and not something I will plan on repurchasing.

Batiste Floral Essences

Ah Batiste – of course I was going to give a new scented can a try ;) Just couldn’t resist it! Batiste are known for leaving your hair grey which is why undetectable Lace was such a hit in my books. Floral is a sweet smelling fragrance that isn’t too overpowering and after a good shake of the can a quick spritz on my hand left minimal marks behind. Maybe the secret is all in the shaking and most dry shampoos come sans marks once mixed together, or maybe it’s just Floral’s formula is a winner. Just to be on the safe side I will be sticking with new can and stocking up incase it ever disappears off the shelves in the future!
