Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide*

I have a confession to make – this is the first ever Laura Mercier foundation (or base) that I’ve used, tried or owned. Yes I am a longstanding devoted fan of their primers, blushers and lip glacés but I’ve never embarked on their Silk Creme Foundation or famous Tinted Moisturisers. Why? Who knows but the wrongs I have committed have finally been put to right with this new launch that recently hit the beauty world. Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide is a brand spanking new formulation that promises to blur imperfections and leave you with a smooth and flawless complexion. Long wearing and oil free this lightweight consistency seamlessly blends into the skin to mask blemishes and discolouration with even a small amount of product. Once applied you are left with a matte finish which works well with all skin tones and types. Not only that, you also have a whopping 24 shades to choose from.

Similar to the popular Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, this foundation needs to be shaken together as it can separate, after a quick mix everything is combined back together to make application quick and easy. Although the finish is great, long lasting and pretty foolproof I just can’t get on with the texture. If feels greasy to the touch and trying to bypass this with a brush doesn’t help. Yes the foundation is great on the skin but this magic new bi-phase formula to give ‘colour-true shades’ will niggle in my mind and result in me reaching for other bases each morning. Suitable for sensitive skin this might work better for those with dry skin but at the moment it’s going to be pushed to the side for my lighter formulas and softer bases.
