Hourglass Cosmetics at Urban Retreat*

Being a lover of beauty products means that fashion week and all things style related usually wash over my head. Considering I struggle on a daily basis when it comes to the simple task of picking what to wear, trying to work out what trends to take from the catwalk and incorporate into my personal style just seems like one step too far. That being said these key events in the calendar don’t just showcase what people will be wearing as their clothes, beauty and hair style trends emerge from these shows and filter throughout the rest of the year.

One of the trends that featured in the AW14 shows was the raw look. Healthy looking skin and neat brows were strutting down the catwalk and this was something I could get on board with. Yes, my skin is not looking it’s most radiant self, however I think this look can be incorporated into your everyday makeup quite easily without needing too much skill or expertise. Using the Hourglass Cosmetics range I paired their Mineral Veil Primer with their Brow Sculpting Pencil and kept the rest of my face fairly neutral.

Overall I really like the more classic look. I did sneak in a bit of bronzer and a cat eye as I can’t live without them at the moment but I kept everything more subtle and neutral which I like. With the temperate currently taking a rather dramatic dip, this cooler and crisp look suits that chill in the air. Focusing your makeup on one specific area really helps to create a classic look that can transfer from the catwalk to your office.
