The Edit: Fangirling Over Shadows

cream shadow edit

Being a working gal, the time I have in the mornings is very precious to me. Yes I like to leisurely watch the latest Shaytards VLOG and possibly catch up on Instagram whilst my eyes are still half shut, however I do also like to apply a full face of makeup. I’m not talking about a big glam look that uses half my collection, but personally, my makeup routine is part of what I like to do to get myself ready for the day. Some people watch the news, I apply makeup ;) Although I enjoy this part of my morning I do find that I opt for quick fixes and time savers just to make sure I get out the door and reach my train on time. One of these quick fixes are cream shadows, the are my morning BFF! Since moving back to London I have built up quite the collection of cream shadows that I can apply in the morning with my fingers and then rush out the door whilst still trying to get my shoes on.

Budget Bestie – Bourjois Colour Edition 24 Hour Shadow in 6801

Sometimes I feel like I would be lost without this shadow. It is a fool proof formulation and shade that if I am in a rush, not sure what to wear or just want something I can trust, I always pick this up. It is like MAC’s All That Glitters but slightly cooler. It lasts all day, blends and dream and is cheap as chips.

Reliable old friend – MAC Paint Pot in Vintage Selection

Initially released as part of a collection, I believe this popular paint pot is now part of MAC’s permanent collection. A very similar shade to the Bourjois offering, this has more flecks of glitter running through it so is something I opt for if I know I am going out in the evening after work. Considering the amount of time I’ve had this little pot for it hasn’t dried out and still works a dream.

Quick application – Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eye Shadow Paint in 006 Rich Russet

If you need something super speedy, this is for you. For days where time is against me I simply swipe this shadow paint over my eye, blend it out with my finger and then I’m done. It gives a lovely neutral bronze shade to the lid that you can build up with multiple applications. If I have a bit more time to spare then I use this in the outer corner for a bit of extra eye definition.

Innovative Formula – Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Eyeshadow in Playa Del Pink

Oh boy do I love these coconut eyeshadows! The only shadows I have seen like this you shake up the bottle and apply the colour directly to your lid using the applicator that attached to the bottle lid. The colour glides on almost wet but dries to a power that lasts all day. The colour is a gorgeous pinky nude shade that works well alone or paired with a crease colour for a more dramatic look.
