January Favourites 2014

january favourites

January, possibly the hardest favourites month out of the year. All your money has disappeared, your skin is throwing a fit thanks to the cold weather and winds and no matter what you seem to apply everything is looking a little lack lustre on your skin. As opposed to hitting the beauty sales I’ve been focused on ensuring my skincare routine is doing everything it can for my skin. From helping with dryness to injecting a bit of life into a dull January morning, these items are what I have been reaching for on almost a daily basis.

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm – This is cleanser perfection. Three weeks in and it is still love, paired with a gel second cleanser this balm helps to lift away all my makeup without stripping my skin. It hasn’t caused me to break out and it doesn’t dry out my face. It works perfectly when teamed with stubborn eye makeup and I haven’t found it to cause any reactions apart from when I manage to get some in my eye!

Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm Cream – I have fallen back in love with this BB Cream and it’s become one of my bases of choice this last month. With my skin deciding to be a dry as the Sahara Desert I haven’t been wanting to slap on anything thick for fear of foundation clinging to my dry patches. This is light on the skin and gives a tad of coverage without enhancing any problem areas.

Yon-Ka Hydra Creme* – An absolute saviour this winter, this has helped to turn my dry skin around. A thick and luxurious moisturiser that I have been using in the mornings after a hydrating serum. This doesn’t sit heavy under my makeup and has been one of the only things to help combat those pesky areas of dry skin.

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Heftiest Hibiscus – When you complexion is looking a tad lacklustre I’ve found a bright and bold lip helps to kick things up a gear. It distracts from any areas of dullness and helps to keep your complexion looking bright and revitalised throughout the dull month of January.

Elemental Herbology Facial Detox* – Part of a three set mini facial kit I’ve been giving the Elemental Herbology range a good old testing. With detox masks being one of my favourites to use this gives a clarifying finish to your skin without leaving it begging for moisture. It has helped to banish any spots and blemishes and leaves my skin looking more even and less dull.
