How do you use your RT Brushes?

Real Technique aka RT brushes have quickly become one of, if not the most, popular choices when it comes to makeup brushes. Available at a steal price from Boots and Superdrug you can quickly build up a brush collection that will rival most. All the brushes are of incredible quality and they wash a treat. With so many now to choose from with new brushes being released I wanted to share with you how I use mine and nope I don’t always follow the rules ;)

Powder Brush – this is where I do stick to the rules. Used for setting powders I opt for this fluffy brush to pop on my fav powder to help keep my makeup in place whilst ensuring shine doesn’t break through. It is the perfect partner to my much loved Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder and they work a treat together.

Blush Brush – I have never used this brush for blusher, not once. Instead I find it to be the perfect contour brush for everyday use. Teamed with my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder this helps to define my cheeks and blend out any harsh lines to keep everything looking natural.

Expert Face Brush – used once for foundation I’ve found this is best teamed with a cream blusher. The dense and short bristles means it’s perfect at blending out a cream product and helps it to look more flawless on your face.

Multi Task Brush – unfortunately this brush is only available in the Travel Essentials set but in my eyes it is worth the set for this brush alone. I use this for every single powder blusher I own as the slightly tapered centre allows you to place your blusher exactly where you want it, however the fluffy brush allows the product to be blended out to ensure no harsh lines are left behind.

Domed Shadow Brush – again this brush is part of the Travel Essentials kit therefore making it more worth while to pick one up ;) Although marketed as an eye shadow brush, I’ve only ever used it for concealer. Whether it be to blend out a highlighting concealer under my eyes or use in conjunction with my Nars Creamy Concealer, this helps to buff concealer into the skin to leave a flawless finish.

Setting Brush – this is one of my RT brushes that I don’t reach for everyday. I don’t have a lot of use for it however I’ve found it works brilliantly when I want to wear my bareMinerals Well Rested Powder to give an intense highlight underneath my eye. It helps with precise application and allows you to control how much you apply.

Contour Brush – part of the Core Collection this is another brush that I don’t reach for on a daily basis. I do use it for contour but only with a very dark shade when I am trying to achieve a dramatic and chiselled look. I find the brush too small to create a natural look but if you are want a strong contour, this will be your best friend.

Shading Brush – inner corner highlight, meet your BFF. Used with a bright pearlescent shadow this brush fits perfectly into the inner corner of your eye or underneath your brow bone to give a touch of shimmer and sparkle.

Buffing Brush – the be all and end all of the RT brush range this cult brush can only be snapped up in the Core Collection. Totally worth it as this makes applying foundation a dream. No matter the consistency or texture this glides foundation on and buffs it in to leave a flawless and perfected base.
