Barry M Classic Matte Nail Paint in MNP4 Vanilla and MNP1 Expresso- £3.99

Barry M are a brand that I find myself flitting between, one moment I’ll be standing at their counters with three nail polishes in hand debating whether it’s okay to buy five, and other times see me walk straight past without so much as a glimpse or turn of my head. Part of the issue was due to the Essie Diffusion line just being so darn good, but also a lot of the more recent Barry M collections have been a little too left field for my fancy. That was until the World of mattes hit the shelves.

The concept of matte nail varnishes is nothing new nor groundbreaking. Whether it be the polish itself that drys without a shine or a matte top coat that removes the shiny finish, matte polishes have been gathering momentum within the beauty sphere for quite a while. As with all good trends the more budget high-street brands offer a take on these popular crazes at a more purse friendly price. Barry M have done just so with a range of 5 Classic Matte Nail Paints. For me the standout shade by far is MNP4 Vanilla, a gorgeous muddy lilac offering that depending on the light can look more nude. This shade has gotten me smitten.

The range also contains a standard matte black polish called MNP1 Expresso. Personally I am not a fan of black on my nails however for Halloween or the Christmas season you can sparkle up a black base with a glitter topcoat. These polishes dry super fast, one decent coat is more then enough and they last just as well as any other Barry M Polish. If matte finishes don’t take your fancy do not fear, keep an eye out for their Limited Edition Christmas Nail Paint which gives any manicure a touch of sparkle.
