August Favourites

When it came to picking items to feature in this month’s favourites post, it dawned on me that the focus of the past month was more about ‘shopping the stash’ then making my wallet weep at the checkout. My last haul post was back in the beginning of July which both shocks me and also makes me proud. I am a lot more cautious when it comes to buying beauty products now, not because I don’t love them, but more because I want to make sure that I am getting something I will use and love. Too many impulse purchases have been passed onto my friends I am now instead heading towards the back of my draws and using up those forgotten gems.

Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate Eye Palette – I literally can not rave about this palette enough. One of the stand out things I did buy in the month of August, these luxurious and rich neutral shades have been pretty much the only eyeshadows I have been wearing. Whether I am wanting to create a wearable day time look or vamp things up for the evening, the possibilities with this palette are endless and all of them are utterly gorgeous.

Origins VitaZing – This is my go to Summer moisturiser and doesn’t get enough praise. It was only when I noticed I was coming towards the end of my second bottle, I was reminded how this really is a staple product for me. Come Spring time I always pop out to my nearest Origins counter and stock up ready for the Summer head. It’s contains a slight tint that is mixed with an SPF of 15 which makes it the perfect pick for those warmer days. It works great alone or underneath your makeup and I can’t see myself going through a Summer without it.

Dior Addict Lipstick in 554 It Pink – As I spoke about in my most recent ‘Blast From The Past’ post I have rekindled my love for this pink toned lipstick. A lot of the time with more expensive lipsticks and beauty items I don’t want to use them for fear of using them up. Pretty pointless in hindsight but some things are just too pretty to use! This item fell into that category and so I had a stern word with myself and ever since this has been a permeant addition in my handbag and my go to bolder lip look.

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation – Throughout Summer I’ve been a no foundation zone. Pass me a light dusting of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder with a bit of concealer and I am done for the day. This is great for my skin but means foundations have sat unloved for a fair few months. This foundation in particular was even left back in London and it was only on a recent visit back home I was reminded how truly lovely it is. If you are looking for the coverage of a foundation but still want something that remains light on your skin, this is the one for you. With no SPF to cause flashback this is perfect for nights out or those occasions with a camera around. Also if you click on the link you will be taken to an extremely old (and cringeworthy) review of this foundation, but it still remains one of my all time favourite bases.

Revlon Lip Butter in 045 Cotton Candy – Another lip product that I’ve busted out from the back of the cupboard, I’ve found myself reaching for this on those days when I just don’t know what lipstick to wear. Back when I first bought a few Revlon Lip Butters I wasn’t sold on the colour and left it at the bottom of the pile, recently however I have loved it’s sheer colour with a slight shimmer. This is the perfect addition for any daytime or evening look.
