Welcome to my first foundation review as part of my new ‘Let’s Talk Bases’ series, to kick things off I am starting with the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. The brand Jouer have recently been rising in popularity over the past year with one of their stand out items being their range of tinted moisturisers. Available in two formulas Luminizing and Matte these have quickly gained cult status within the beauty community. The only slight problem is fact they can only be found online at Cult Beauty within the UK, not exactly ideal when trying to match yourself up colour wise so whilst in the states I tracked down a tiny counter where I could swatch away until my hearts content.
The Matte Moisture Tint is a lightweight base that evens out imperfections whilst leaving your skin silky smooth. It is packed full of Vitamins and rich antioxidants whilst also providing and SPF coverage of 15. I picked up the shade Porcelain which I believe to be the lightest shade available, there are five shades in total ranging from fair to tan complexions. In hindsight I could have picked up a shade darker, I am a pretty pale lass (but do my best to hide it) and Porcelain matches my skin perfectly. A shade up would add more warmth to my skin however I prefer to get this colour from a bronzer, starting off with a darker shade can end up with all kinds of problems!
In terms of consistency and longevity I find this to be more similar to a slightly thicker balm as opposed to a moisturiser. It blends beautifully into the skin leaving a natural finish that lasts all day. In the above photos the first is me sans makeup, second is just the Matte Moisture Tint and then finally is my complete look with the full works applied. Even though it is matte I do find it to have a slightly dewy finish which I love as it doesn’t leave my skin looking like a mask. Imperfections are covered whilst my freckles and skin are still able to show through. Overall I really like this base and can see it becoming a firm favourite in the cooler months when I am minus a tan.
