Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – £38

Something truly outstanding has happened to the World of powders – I promised myself I wouldn’t succumb to the hype, refused to be lured in and went even as far as claiming that I would never purchase one. Clearly as you can see by the photos this lasted the entirety of about a second and I, like the rest of the world, have become devoted to the World of the Ambient Lighting Powder. Every time I went past a Sephora in the States I would hover around the Hourglass stand whilst having an internal debate as to whether to take the plunge and pick one up. Needless to say the beauty addict won and boy oh boy am I glad that it did.

There is something about this powder that just leaves your skin looking incredible. Quite a claim I know but it has honestly knocked me for six and has left me and my skin in awe. Since the purchase happened I have been going sans foundation, just a dusting of this finely milled beauty and any imperfections are instantly masked. No tinted moisturisers, BB Creams or CC Creams in sight, I’ve been converted to just a concealer and Ambient Lighting Powder kinda gal. Part of me thought that this wondrous achievements was down to my tan but since it has started fading (sob) I am still ditching the bases.

Available in an array of shades I opted for the neutral beige offering Dim Light. Brushed all over my face after concealer this gives, as the title suggests, a Photoshopped soft focus look to your skin. It feels light as air on your face and helps your makeup last throughout the day whilst keeping shine at bay. Understandably these powders are pretty steep up the price bracket and every time I dust it across my face I wince at the pan hoping that a dip hasn’t yet formed. As you can see in the photos above (first without powder, second with, both without foundation!) this takes the edge off any fine lines, pores and imperfections. It’s love and now I just hope it’s doesn’t run out anytime soon!
