Beauty from Across the Pond

When you are a beauty lover, a joy of visiting the States is being able to scour the counters and stands for American beauty brands. Due to some evil sorcery these such products have not made the hop, skip and jump over to English territory so they can only be found hidden away in the likes of Sephora or Ulta. The majority of my beauty wish list comprised of items that you can pick up in the UK, but there were a few select products that I had my eye that can only be found across the pond.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blissful – it is well documented on this blog that I adore my Tarte blusher in Tipsy. This was on the top of my re-purchase list for the States but my mitts were far more interested in picking up something different. Although I have hit pan on the blusher I was itching to see what other shades Tarte have to offer and instantly fell for their peach offering Blissful. It is pretty similar to Tipsy but is slightly more pinky toned as opposed to coral. One swatch was enough and this was quickly swooped up into my shopping bag.

Covergirl Lipslicks Smoochies in 255 Sweet Tweet – I had been eyeing up the Maybelline Baby Lips in Ulta but unfortunately they only had Peppermint and Quenched (the clear options) sitting on the shelves. Being a lover of colour I decided to wonder around and fell upon these offerings from Covergirl. I can’t find out much online but they are advertised as a lip balm lipstick, a hint of colour whilst injecting some hydration to your lips. They smell utterly scrumptious, give a lovely kiss of colour and do a pretty good job of moisturising your lips.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Cheek Gelée in Poppy Paradise – this caught my eye on the shelves in Sephora and as they say, the rest is history. Marketed as an innovative coconut water-infused cheek gelée that offers 14 hours of colour and hydration, these little pots give a soft blush of colour to the cheeks that feels light and hydrating on the skin. The pot looks a little alarming but the final colour is natural and blend-able gel stain. I can already tell that this is going to be a staple cheek option come Summer.

Bite High Pigment Matte Pencil in Corvina – following on from the Clinique Chubby Sticks and new Nars Satin Lip Pencils, lip products in stick/pencil form seem to be popping up all over the place. From their ease of application, pigmentation and lasting power it’s not surprising why, however the one that caught my eye is from a brand called Bite. Exclusive to Sephora Bite is a all-natural lip care company. Their High Pigment Matte Pencils that come in a whopping 20 shades got my vote. I could have easily picked up five different shades but settled on Corvina a bright coral offering which is utterly divine.

NYX Butter Gloss in BLG08 Apple Strudel – not being satisfied with the lip options I had already snapped up this NYX also made it in the cut. For a drugstore purchase this lip gloss is soft on the lips without being drying or sticky. The colour is a light babyish pink but looks quite subtle as opposed to giving you Barbie lips. Perfecting for popping in your handbags for retouches on the go.
