There are some beauty staples that surpass the level of essential and step into the world of holy grail. A special word that is saved for those few select products that you can never see yourself living without. They will always be part of your makeup and skincare collection and no matter how many alternatives you try, they never compare. The above are my holy grail items, a few of them are missing individual reviews so keeps your eyes pealed on the blog as they will be making their way to you very soon.

Clarins Water Purify One Step Cleanser for Combination/Oily Skin – this is my go to morning cleanser. When it’s 7am and I am standing bleary eyed wondering why I didn’t hit snooze for the 10th time, the thought of using a cleanser with water and a flannel is one I just can not bare. My AM routine is all about speed and this water based cleanser is exactly that. Like a toner, just pop some on to a cotton pad and wipe over your skin. This cleanses away any impurities that built up throughout the night and leaves your skin feeling refreshed and clean. Five bottles in, you know this is a winner.

Origins Super Spot Remover has been part of my skincare routine since I was about 14. This has always been my go to spot treatment and nothing else I have tried compares. It can pack quite a sting thanks to all the Salicylic Acid it contains, but a dab of this directly onto the problem area helps to reduce redness and blast away the blemish. You need the smallest amount so this little bottle will last you through a fair few unwanted breakouts.

Origins Plantscription Foundation with SPF 15 in 03 Light Warm – before getting this I had been on the hunt for a new foundation for what felt like forever. There were a few that came close, but nothing matched my long list of requirements. I wanted something that gave me coverage whilst looking light on the skin, left a a natural finish that lasted throughout a the day and didn’t get oily at lunchtime. Finding one foundation that matched all of this seemed like an impossibility, until Plantscription came into my life. This ticks all the boxes and feels light on my skin whilst still covering any redness or blemishes. It lasts throughout the day and gives a super natural and slightly dewy finish. I am almost out of the bottle so for me to use up a foundation shows just how much I love it.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush –  I don’t think any words need to be said about this Buffing Brush as I’m sure it’s pretty much everyone’s HG foundation brush. This quickly pushed my former HG brush, the Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki, out of the club as I found it made my foundation look lighter and more flawless on the skin. It is less dense compared to the kabuki so doesn’t feel as heavy or drag the skin. Since getting it I haven’t touched my Sigma brush and I can’t imagine using another brush to apply my foundation.

L’Oreal Mega Volume Collagene 24hrs in Extra Black – it might seem odd to have a mascara as a HG item as mascara needs can differ depending on what event you are going to or what look you are trying to achieve. That being said this is my staple mascara and one that I will never be without. This is my second tube of the L’Oreal Mascara and before trying it I would flit between YSL and Benefit as I was dubious that a drugstore mascara could provide everything I needed. Whenever I wear this I receive complements and people think I am wearing fake eyelashes. Even my boss noticed which is saying something! This gives intense length and curl to my lashes whilst making them jet black.

MAC Paints in Bare Canvas – I don’t think I’ve mentioned this product before on the blog and for that I slap my wrists. Since first getting into makeup this has always been in my collection. A tube lasts for what feels like a lifetime, but somehow I managed to get through one and this is my second. This is the perfect eye-shadow base as it evens out the skin tone on my lids and covers any redness. It drys to a powder finish and stops my eye-shadow from creasing. This the best base I’ve tried and helps to make the shadows applied after look more vibrant on the lid.

I feel like I’ve said ‘love’ and ‘the best’ a lot in this post but that’s what happens when you talk about holy grail items! It takes a lot for a product to make it into the holy grail status with me so the fact that these have show just how good they are.
