Headmasters Mayfair*

Over the past few months my hair has dismally fallen on the back burner. My layers had been left to grow out, my roots started taking over and the amount of split ends that were present at the tips of my hair seemed to be doubling by the day. With work, life and everything else that seems to get thrown at you, the chance to pop down to my favourite salon was left worryingly overdue. Luckily last Thursday this was all rectified and I hop, skipped and jumped over to the Mayfair Salon for an appointment with Senior Art Director Ollie Blackaby. I have been to the Mayfair Salon before and out of all the Headmasters Salons I have been to it is hands down my favourite. Just off the corner from the hustle and bustle of Regents Street this salon is tucked away and offers a tranquil getaway from the high-street.

The appointment started with a brief consultation with Ollie where I gave a jumbled and confused description of what I wanted. I am no hair expert so when it comes to asking for a specific thing I usually rely on photos and the statement ‘make it look nicer’. Even though I was still blonde I felt that the brightness was lost and the colour had become a bit lifeless. Ollie suggested popping in a few darker toners to make the highlights stand out more and for the blonde to pack a bit more punch. What’s brilliant about Ollie is that when he mixes the colour for you he always matches it to your skintone and eye colour so you know your final colour will be flattering. The highlights were applied and then he used a technique called balayage whereby slices of colour are painted onto a board as opposed to using foils – this helps to make the colour a bit softer and more natural.

Once my colour had set my hair was blow dried and given a much needed chop. Now my hair is shorter I like keeping it around collarbone level so two inches were taken off to get rid of all the dead ends. Overall I am really happy with my hair and I’m pretty certain that Ollie is a colour genius. Whilst I was at the salon a lady next to me received the Mid Lights Lift treatment which is where a bespoke toner is mixed together and applied. For £35 this helps to improve condition and shine to your hair whilst being the perfect treatment for in-between appointments, it also includes a blow dry! If your roots are not showing enough or you don’t need highlights yet, this treatment is the perfect in-between appointment. I was so impressed I have already booked myself in to get this done next!

For me Headmasters are always a winner and in all the different salons I have been to they all have exceptional stylists that work with you to achieve exactly what you want. Happy hair is back!
