You may have seen pop up on the side of my blog a couple of days ago a little button for the InStyle Blog Elite. This is a ‘crack team’ of bloggers that have been selected to work together with InStyle on various community projects and you might have already seen a few blog posts today all about the first one, InStyle Your Way. This is launching today and is all about recreating the Braided Up Do. It’s a great way to create your own look based on the trends at the moment and InStyle have created a handy video tutorial which you can follow here.

What’s great about these trend challenges is that readers can get involved and be in with a chance of winning a jam packed goody bag made up of some beauty favourites that include Dermalogica, L’Oreal and Morrocan Oil. All you need to do to be in with a chance is Tweet a picture of your version of the Braided Up Do to @instyle_uk with the hashtag #instyleyourway. This is open until the 25th February and if I can manage to do it – anyone can!

To create my look I first sectioned my hair in half – left and right side. With one side pined up out of the way I then split the section I was working with into three so that I could start platting the hair. For the start of the plait I only used the front section of my hair, say from the ear forward, as I wanted to bring in the rest of the hair in sections similar to a fishtail braid. This meant that I could control the direction of the plait so that it curved round my head and finished at the back. I repeated these steps for the other side and secured each plait with a small hair band. I then linked together each plait at the back of my hair and secured with some bobby pins. To complete the look I added a flower clip to balance out the look against my fringe.

Always wanted to give the Braided Up Do a try or just fancy being in a chance with winning your own goody bag  Give it a try today!
