Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque – £33.00
Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask – £21.50

Keeping on the trend of Christmas goodies (Father Christmas was on a beauty spree this year!) and after over indulging on lunch, chocolates and all the other goodies that mange to turn up over the Christmas period and land themselves in my stomach, my skin was in need of some TLC ASAP! The levels of sugar were mounting and I could feel all these nasties ready to erupt on my face any day. This is when action needs to be taken and thankfully Father Christmas was one step ahead of me with these two skin busting potions.

First up the Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque. I had tried out a couple of samples of this mask and since becoming mask addicted (no joke I use about 3/4 a week now!) I knew this had to be added in to my routine. Although I already have the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask (full review here) I use that more when my skin needs a complete detox and deep clean as opposed to when my skin has broken out in spots. This mask from Aesop helps to treat any naughty eruptions on your skin as the chamomile in the mask helps to reduce any redness or irritation that they might cause. This is also a clay mask, like the Origins one, so it helps to draw out an impurities in the skin and treat any blemishes that might be hiding under the surfaces. I apply this to my skin with the Real Techniques Contour Brush (which has become my go to mask applying brush and prevents my hands from getting covered or using up too much product!) and then leave it on for about 10 minutes and after remove it with a flannel that has been in warm water. I then like to use a hydrating mask to ensure that my skin is kept plum and full of moisture.

The second (and also much blogger hyped) mask is the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask. Kate from Gh0stparties is a big lover of this mask and it’s moisturising properties and I finally understand why! This is an all natural product (high five Antipodes) and is a super deep moisturising mask that also helps to blast away some of those blemishes. The main ingredient is Manuka Honey (well duh :P) and this is used by New Zealanders to hydrate their skin. As opposed to something like the Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask (that I have reviewed here) that you leave on over night, with the Antipodes mask you pop it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off. I find this is great after using a clay based mask and it ensures your skin is kept hydrated.

These two masks may have meant I spent the entire EastEnders Christmas special with a face mask adorned to my face but hey it was well worth it!
