It’s time for another budget beauty! Being brought up in South West London pretty close to Kew Gardens, I have always been intrigued by the Boots Botanics range. With the tag line ‘the power of plants’ all the items are developed with Kew Gardens to bring you the best skincare products that contain active plant extracts. With the average beauty consumer becoming more aware of the ingredients inside their skincare items, I think it’s great that Boots provide botanic options that are easy to get a hold of and do not break the bank.
The first item I tried is the 100% Organic Facial Oil. Being a girl from the category ‘oily skin’ I used to be petrified of oils and assumed they would only add to the oiliness upon my face. Oh how wrong was I! Instead, using oils are a must have addition to your beauty routine as these little pots help your skin to balance out it’s oil production therefore making your skin less oily. Magic aye! This oil comes in a small glass pot with a pipette and feels every inch luxurious even for it’s tiny £9.99 price tag. The oil contains rosehip so does pack quite a strong smell, but it quickly melts into your skin and provides moisturise for up to 8 hours. Depending on how my skin is feeling I either use this alone or add a couple of drops to my daily moisturiser to give it a bit more of a punch. I’ve also found since using this that my skin appears a bit more brighter in these dull winter days.
The second item was the one I was more intrigued by, the Ultra Calm Skin Relief Serum with none other then marshmallow as an ingredient! Now I’ve never used a product with marshmallow in it before nor have I ever been recommended it for it’s skincare benefits, so when I found out it was inside this serum I instantly wanted to see what it could do to my skin. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts since the start of the New Year my skin has gone off with a bang. Literally! Spots and blemishes galore so I have been reaching for the high potency pots and creams to banish all the badness. This understandably has left my skin feeling a bit red and sore so this serum was the perfect antidote. It is a very cooling gel like product that helps to even out any redness in my skin and helps restore it to a balanced state. Alongside the marshmallow is liquorice and linden flower which all works away to relieve sensitivity and redness. This has really helped to bring my skin back to normal and helps to combat the spot fighting treatments. Whether it is down to the marshmallow alone, this serum has really helped my skin return to a state of calm.
