Foundations are a staple item in any makeup collection and a good one can be like gold dust to find. Everyone’s skin is different so finding your holy grail foundation can be a nightmare (I know it has been for me!) This is why when YSL announced that they were releasing a foundation based on their infamous Touche Eclat under eye highlighter my ears pricked up! Please welcome Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation!*The aim of this foundation is, similar to the Touche Eclat, to illuminate and brighten your face. It has been years (and I mean years!) in the making and now it has it has hit counters in an impressive range of 22 shades. These shades are split into three handy categories; Beige Rose, Beige and Beige Dore so in theory there should be a shade for any skintone.

The colour I picked is B20 – shade number 20 in the Beige category. This shade matches my skintone perfectly. As you can see in the above picture (which I can promise you isn’t just a picture of my arm!) it shows the foundation blended into my arm. There are no lines between the foundation and my skin, the match is perfect! This is also a handy tip when finding your foundation shade, swatch the colour on your inner-fore arm and if the foundation is undetectable voila that is your shade! That being said however, if you are like me and don’t want to be as pale as you naturally are you may want to go a couple of shades higher or warm up your face with a bronzer.

This foundation is quite a light coverage but can be built up into a more medium coverage. It contains no opaque powders so you don’t get that dreaded masked face look. YSL have also replaced these powders with a ‘soft focus gel’. This gives the foundation a softer feel which is meant to smooth away and imperfections. Due to this gel like consistency my favourite way to apply this foundation is to use my fingers and then buff over my face with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. When applying this with your fingers you literally feel the foundation melt into the skin. It leaves a really lovely natural finish and does a pretty decent job at evening out any blemishes.

This is the finished look with a bit of bronzing to warm my skin up. It leaves a really natural ‘made up but doesn’t look like your wearing foundation’ look and is such a breeze to apply. I have been wearing this none stop for the past 3 weeks and love it! It really does brighten my face and apart from a bit of nose shine at lunch time it does a pretty decent job of lasting throughout the day as well. This foundation can be bought from £28 from Selfridge here which I think is pretty reasonable considering it is a YSL foundation and comes in a gorgeous glass YSL bottle ;) Have you tried this foundation out yet? What are your thoughts?
