with 2012 being the year of my hair (and having recently cut over 4 inches of it off!) i have been experimenting with different stylers and tools to create different effects. sometimes i can get stuck in a rut of leaving my hair do its own thing (aka sit straight and lifeless) so any tools that can inject some excitement into my hair has me wanting to try it!the vidal sassoon ultimate styler has pretty much every attachment you would need to create your perfect style. as opposed to having to buy a curler, straightener, blow dryer etc this great tool gives you everything in one. whats great as well is that the styler includes an ionic generator to prevent frizz and to leave your hair looking styled to perfection.

the body of the styler comes attachment free and has 4 settings. off, cold, power 1 and power 2. this styler works like a hair dryer as opposed to straighteners that have to heat up first. the styler blasts hot air into your attachment of choice to give you your desired affect. as it works more like a hair dryer i use this on wet hair to blow dry my hair into shape however the attachments still give great style on dry hair.

the attachments you get are; ceramic straightening brush, 38mm ceramic thermal brush, 20mm ceramic bristle brush, 19mm tong and a concentrator nozzle.

my favourite attachment by far is the 38mm ceramic thermal brush. this gives you the perfect blow dry quickly and easily. as opposed to similar stylers where the brush part rotates this brush is stationary but i find that easier to work with. held at the root of your hair you can create some serious volume and i twist the brush to pull my hair round the barrel to create movement throughout. for someone who has never used this styler before or really ‘professionally attempted’ to blow dry my hair i was able to create a salon blow dry at home. my only gripe with this styler is it has a realllly short electrical cable! so make sure your plug point is near your mirror as unfortunately this styler doesn’t give you a lot of room to manoeuvre.

you can buy the vidal sassoon ultimate styler from many highstreet and online retailers for around the £18.37 mark. not bad considering the amount of attachments you get with it!

have you tried this before? what is your favourite hair styling tool?
