a couple of weekends ago i trotted along to space nk for a complementary makeover. i wanted to try out one of the by terry foundations but as per there was a severe lack of samples. however instead of the usual ‘oh ill slap it on your face so you can see what it looks like’ the sale assistant invited me to book in for an appointment for a whole makeover. win!

throughout the makeover i had my skin checked, was told i didnt need to wear foundation apart from in the centre of my face (queue me looking totally shocked!) and had a very dry looking chin when my chin has never been dry before. i wasn’t impressed by the foundation and was having a ponder over what to purchase. although the by terry lipgloss was a big hit (but the £28 price tag was not!) i was pleasantly surprised to find myself not falling head over heels for the makeup items but instead for a skincare item.

this item is the darphin – azahar cleansing micellar water. it smelt really fresh, felt so soft on my skin and removed my makeup in a swift wipe. darphin are a botanical based skincare line and use nifty aromatherapy blends to create their ranges. after all the recent buzz around micellar solutions my instant impressiveness turned into a sudden need. i thought this would be around the £50 mark (being in space nk and all) but was pleasantly surprised when it was £23. yes this is a lot for what is really glorified water but i’ve wanted to try out a micellar solution for a while and couldnt resist the chance.

this is the blurb on the back and i find this water is so soft i can soak a cotton pad in it and use it to remove my eye makeup without my eyes stinging at all. waterproof mascara and all! i am slightly worried at how quickly it is getting used up for the price but it means that my liz earle cleanse and polish can be used to remove any excess makeup and spend its time cleansing my face instead.

all in all although this is a bit of a splurge im glad i got it and i have loved using it. my skin feels cleaner at night and instead of smudging around my makeup around my face this micellar solution gets rid of it all quickly and cleanly =)

have you tried a micellar solution? which one is your favourite?
